New show

It’s that time again. Friends from around the entertainment industry gather to show off their personal artwork. If you’re in SoCal then be sure to drop by for great art of all types, pizza, and booze. Fun times are always had every time this show rolls along.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it but somehow my art will. I’ll post photos of my contribution the day after the show.

So, I’ve been neglecting this little blog for far too long. I’ve had plans to do a nice overhaul and redesign but that’s turning into a massive project which I’m not ready to tackle. Instead, I’ll just concentrate on returning to posting artwork and daily doodles when possible.

This past month has brought a wealth of art out of my brain and onto paper, canvas, and clay. The first thing I’ve been wanting to show is a little storybook I created for a few dear friends. You see, they decided to run the Disneyworld marathon a few weeks ago and I wanted to cheer them on and be their number one supporter. As inspiration, I painted a new page for them every week, running up to the big date, and then presented them with an actual printing of the book after the race. I had a ton of fun doing this and it was quite the experience in Disneyworld with them. So much so that I’ll be joining them next year!

In the end, I wish I had a little more time. The last few pages look rushed but I was under a tight deadline and I was in the middle of moving and starting a new job. Oh well, I’ll be doing another one for the next marathon! =)

I decided to test the Washington weather and in all my infinite wisdom and went for a run as the sun was setting, in the rain, after I hadn’t run in nearly 2 weeks. This is how I felt the entire run.

in the end, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Conditioning runs in Albuquerque really helped especially all those runs I did in the snow. Fun. (oh, funny thing, that was supposed to be me but then ended up drawing a super thin and fit version of me. I’m no where near that physique, haha)

Moving update

Been a while since I’ve updated. Here’s the brief: currently on the road moving up to the Seattle area for work. Been packing and prepping for the move so most of the art and animation stuff was put on hold. Although, I did finish a piece for a buddy’s hardback publication coming out next year (google: Dave Wilkins El Zombo). Plus, been working on a storybook for some friends and will try a small print run after the new year. Aside from that, both films I was working on have been delayed since I’m now operating outside Cali away from friends and colleagues.
The Daily Doodle will be returning next week after I settle in since all my projects won’t get off the ground until January. It’ll have a good run right up to the new year. Then I’ll be returning back to all of my other projects. I’ve really packed on a ton of projects but I’m happy and excited to get to them eventually.
In the meantime, here’s a doodle I did for practice. Draw random shapes and create something from them.
